Tour the world's last whaleback!
The SS Meteor is the last remaining of these innovative ships designed by Captain Alexander McDougall. Launched from Superior in 1896, she carried a variety of cargo on the Great Lakes, including iron ore, cars and oil. Hear the ship's whistle and see the original 1896 steam engine as you tour from pilot house to cargo holds.

Step back in time at this award winning Victorian house museum. One of  America's Castles featured on the A&E Network, this 42 room mansion was built in 1890 by Superior's three-time mayor Martin Pattison. Fairlawn recalls the elegance and prosperity of Superior's boomtown days as well as the mansion's unique 42 years as The Superior Children's Home and Refuge.

Built in 1898, the Old Firehouse originally housed five horse drawn rigs, including the city's first steamer. Enjoy a unique look at the museum's historic fire fighting equipment and police memorabilia in the last of Superior's nineteenth century fire halls! Home to the State of Wisconsin Fire and Police Hall of Fame, honoring those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
