February 23: A Study of Urban Gardening. Tom Hanson, owner of the Duluth Grill has over 30 years experience in the restaurant industry.  His interest in local foods stems from the a broken system of value driven products that have lead to poor quality and what he believes is a major alteration in our nations health.  His family made the decision in 2008 to be the change, and offer the best quality foods in their neighborhood diner environment.  Since then he has traveled to Milwaukee to learn about urban farming and to Cuba to learn about a nation’s survival by developing a clean, healthy system of food production. They have made a commitment to buy locally from qualified suppliers and have started their own urban farm with experts on staff to build our own food system we can control.

Gary Kane and Cheech Jauch of Wentworth Gardens will present a PowerPoint about the new varieties that have recently caught their attention and the old favorites you might have overlooked.
